Account Deletion
This page explains how to delete your account in The Challenge App, what is removed when you do, and what survives. It is written for people who want to leave, including people who have already uninstalled the app and cannot open it any more.
Everything below is the same behaviour described in our Privacy Policy. This page exists so you do not have to read a privacy policy to find it.
Deleting your account from inside the app
Open the app and go to Me → Delete Account. Confirm when asked.
It is immediate and it cannot be undone. There is no waiting period and no recovery window, so do not use it to take a break — signing out is the way to do that.
If you cannot open the app
If you have uninstalled The Challenge App, lost access to your phone, or cannot sign in, email admin@challengeyourfaith.com from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. If you cannot write from that address — because it is wrong, or because it was never yours — write from an address you can open and say so.
We will answer within 30 days, and in practice much sooner. We may need to confirm that you control the account's email address before we act, because a deletion request from the wrong person is not something we can reverse afterwards. Where the address itself is what is wrong, we confirm who you are another way, and we take longer over it for the same reason. A system administrator can also correct a wrong address on an account; our Privacy Policy sets out what that changes.
What is deleted
- Your profile, your streak, and every check-in you have logged.
- Every message you have sent, and the photos, videos and files you uploaded.
- Your profile photo, if you added one.
- Your notifications, your notification preferences, and every device's push registration.
- Your private details — phone number and date of birth.
- Your spiritual gifts assessment: your answers and every completed result, including earlier attempts.
- Your library reading progress and your Bible highlights.
- Your name, email, phone number and date of birth are erased from your church's registration record.
If you lead a group, leadership passes to another member. If nobody else is in it and it belongs to a church programme, the group stays in place without a leader so the church can reassign it. If it is a personal group with nobody left in it, it is deleted.
If you have an older subscription with us, deleting your account may not stop it. We changed payment processors after those were sold, so write to admin@challengeyourfaith.com and we will cancel it by hand and confirm when it is done. The remainder of the period is not refunded.
What is kept, and why
Two things survive on purpose, and you should know about them before you press the button:
- A short system line in your former group noting that you left. It carries the display name you were using. It is part of that group's record and the app cannot remove it.
- An audit record that a deletion happened, identified by an account id that no longer maps to any person. It carries no name, no email and no contact details. We keep it so we can show that deletions are honoured.
Your church registration seat stays used up. This is deliberate — deleting an account does not mint a free seat. If you want to come back later, your church has to issue you a new registration code.
Questions
Write to admin@challengeyourfaith.com and a person will answer. If you want a copy of the personal information we hold before you delete it, ask us at the same address and we will send it.
